What is the Story of Resident Evil 9?
Well, according to the trailer we can infer that the game’s main protagonist is Grace Ashcroft, who is a FBI agent. She is told that she is supposed to find out the reason why many people are dying. So, she is assigned to investigate the Remwood hotel. This is the same hotel where Grace’s mother, Alycia Ashcroft had died.
The Game takes place in the ruined remains of Raccoon City, 30 years later after the catastrophic events of Resident Evil 3. In the trailer, iconic ruins could be seen like the R.P.D and the silent streets of Raccoon City.
Taking all the details from the trailer into consideration, this game may be revolutionary for Capcom’s Resident Evil Franchise, as the level of detail given to this game—combined with its deep ties to its history—could significantly impact both longtime players and new players.
When will Resident Evil 9 Release?
The Resident Evil 9 Requiem release date has been set to February 27 2026. Capcom has not made any official statement about releasing any Pre-orders or any special editions. However, a playable demo has already been released for Gamescom 2025 and the gameplay has already made fans astonished by the amazing graphics and the amount of attention given to even the smallest details.
What Platforms Will Resident Evil 9 be Releasing on?
Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil 9 will be releasing on the PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. However, there is no official confirmation that Resident Evil 9 will be releasing on last-gen consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One. This news may be disappointing for the last gen console users, but despite the uncertainties of its release on the PS4 and Xbox One, all we can hope for is the best.
Who are the protagonists?
Before the release of the trailer there were many rumors about the arrival of our all-time action star, Leon S. Kennedy. As I had mentioned earlier those were just rumors, and there is no proof by reliable sources that Leon will be starring the game.
Koshi Nakanishi, game developer of Resident Evil, spoke on Leon saying: “We always thought about making Leon the protagonist, but making a horror game based around him is difficult.” Nakanishi’s statement is logical and well-thought, as an experienced player like Leon would not be a good fit for this type of character.
He added: “He wouldn’t jump at something like a bucket falling. No one would want to see Leon scared by every little thing. So he’s actually quite a bad match for horror.” Now this statement definitely supports the fact that Leon would not be a good match for Resident Evil 9. He is more cut out for action-packed and adventurous games. His role in Resident Evil 4 was definitely award-winning due to his impressive combat skills and his survival instincts.
What Relation Does Resident Evil 9 have with the other games in the series?
Resident Evil 2 was set in Raccoon City, which suffered massive destruction due to the G-virus outbreak. The city was completely destroyed left in ruins. However, Resident Evil 9 is also set in Raccoon City, and the pictures in the trailer depict how the city has remained unchanged since the devastation seen at the end of Resident Evil 2.
